Validation involves an evaluation of the plausibility and appropriateness of the proposed interpretations and uses of test scores. As the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing put it:
Validity refers to the degree to which evidence and theory support the interpretations of test scores entailed by proposed uses of test scores.
