ABSTRACT
Micere M. Githae Mugo, mother and guardian of Mumbi Mugo and Njeri Mugo, was born in Kerugoya, Kenya. Upon completing her primary and secondary education, Mugo attended the University of East Africa, Makerere Campus, in Uganda, where she received her bachelor’s degree with honors in 1966. In 1967 she took courses at the Nairobi Campus of the University of East Africa and received a postgraduate diploma education. She later enrolled at the University of New Brunswick, Canada, where she attained a master’s and a Ph.D. degree in literature between 1971 and 1973.
