ABSTRACT

This chapter: • will present a brief overview o f some characteristics o f written Welsh, pointing

out those most likely to cause difficulty • examines mistakes that Welsh children make when writing in Welsh • shows spelling and linguistic differences between English and Welsh which are

likely to be troublesome for all learners and for dyslexic learners in particular • offers some suggestions about how this contributes to our understanding about

children's learning in a bilingual situation and about the identification of dyslexia and its associated learning difficulties.
