ABSTRACT
This chapter describes the range of definitions and meanings associated with the terms “curriculum” and “curriculum studies.” We describe the main debates in the field and adopt a particular stance useful for newcomers to the field, especially for those concerned with curriculum in the schools and with how curriculum is viewed in public and political discourse. The chapter concludes with a brief look into the not too distant future.
