ABSTRACT
New Forum and Democracy Now were the citizens' movements founded in the fall of 1989. The groups led the protests against the East German Communist government that catalyzed the East German revolution. In our country the communication between state and society is obviously troubled. In the state and economy, the balancing of the interests of various groups and sectors is not functioning properly. Communication about our situation and between competing interests in our society is blocked. On the one hand, we would like an expansion of the range of available consumer goods and better distribution, on the other hand we see the social and economic costs of these things and ask for a rejection of unlimited growth. We want to give room to economic initiative, but don't want this to degenerate into the elbow society. We will place the activity of New Forum on a legal basis.
