ABSTRACT
Great Nescience: The doctrines of Loka¯yata as a science are known to all everywhere, perception is the only (means of) true knowledge; earth, water, fire, and wind are the only realities; wealth and desire are the only two goals of human life. The elements are what form consciousness. There is not after-life, for death is one’s salvation. Va¯caspati composed this scripture in accordance with our intentions, offered it to Ca¯rva¯ka. Ca¯rva¯ka, through his disciples and their disciples, multiplied the work among his disciples and their disciples.
