ABSTRACT
This chapter:
Describes how research purposes and questions emerge from an interpretive perspective;
Summarizes distinct characteristics of various qualitative research traditions typically used in music education research; such as ethnography, phenomenology, case study, grounded theory, narrative research, and arts-based research.
