ABSTRACT
The writings of the Soviet psychologist A. R. Luria have stimulated much thought and research in the field of human learning. In particular, his emphasis on the crucial influence of language on the development of mental processes in children has been an important contributory factor in the development of the current interest in the role of language in learning.
