ABSTRACT

In a short span of less than 30 years, information and communication technologies (ICTs) have brought about many social changes in contemporary societies. The Internet, in particular, is said to have the potential to radically impact health care models and delivery systems. According to Gomez, Caceres, Lopez, and Del Pozo (2002), it is transforming relationships between health care administrations and companies, professionals, and patients. This process of transformation also extends to diseases such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) that have a poorer life expectancy forecast, making it vital for prevention efforts in the form of information.
