ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses the future of online distance TESOL and makes some projections on what lies ahead for new teachers and researchers in this extraordinary and fast-growing area of professional and scholarly development. Changes in online distance TESOL are driven by many forces—economic challenges worldwide in the countries addressed in this volume, professional and scholarly innovations in face-to-face and online English language learning, teaching and program administration. For those interested in online distance TESOL, it may be a good time to take heed— to avoid the pitfalls of poor planning and to enjoy the results of excellence in online distance TESOL.
