ABSTRACT

As this book encourages practitioners to become researchers who naturally will seek unbiased evidence, Chapter 2 begins by considering, then disputing, the thoughts of some eminent researchers who have doubted the benefits of play claimed in Chapter 1. The chapter then considers the thorny question of intervention and considers some key intervention strategies, in particular ensuring that young children learn to crawl using the cross lateral pattern. Thereafter the chapter shares decision making about intervention by using pictures as a stimulus to discern the best ways forward. Throughout the chapter different perspectives are given as food for thought and reflection.
