Kailas-Manasarovar in “Classical” (Hindu) and Colonial Sources

The mountain known to the Tibetans as Kang Ringpoche has become known in the West under the name Kailas, from the Sanskrit Kailasa, and much of the Western understanding of that mountain, and its attendant lake, Manasarovar, has come from Indian sources.
