ABSTRACT
This chapter summarises research undertaken by the UK Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit 1 in 2003 on the incentives upon fishermen in the North Sea and how these give rise to non-sustainable fishing patterns. It looks at the use of the fish resource from the perspective of the economic agents that are exploiting the resource.
