ABSTRACT
Buildings and infrastructure are a critical part of the development process and in achieving sustainable development. The sustainable building or struc - ture is one that satisfies environmental, social and economic concerns in a balanced way. There is a need ‘to promote sustainable skills and behaviour, inspired by creative and critical ways of thinking, in order to encourage the resolution and management of problems that stand in the way of sustainable development’.1
