ABSTRACT
In the past, one of the barriers to improving listening comprehension was the limited supply of useful materials. The Web has changed that, making an incredibly rich collection of often free audio and video materials available to language teachers and learners. This collection includes dedicated materials designed specifi cally to support language learning (e.g., Randall’s Cyber Listening Lab: https://www.esl-lab.com); authentic materials with dedicated language learning support (e.g., https://www.lingual. net); authentic materials with transcripts, captions, or other aids that were not specifi cally provided for language learners but that can be useful for them (e.g., https://www.cnn.com/studentnews); and of course the countless unsupported audio and video materials available through commercial media websites and resources like YouTube (https://www.youtube.com).
