ABSTRACT

Introduction At the turn of the new century, unexpected events occurred one after another. We have to realize that we are in the midst of a historical transformation, a global structural change named “globalization.” People, goods, capital, information, and technology move and spread across borders with a scale and speed that have never been experienced. Globalization causes many, sometimes serious, changes in politics, economics, society, and culture in individual countries, communities, and regions as well as on the international level.
