ABSTRACT

In the main part of the chapter, Dorothy Watson drew upon miscue analysis to learn who Blake and Syed were as individuals, discovered their views of reading and themselves as readers, and then thoughtfully selected strategies that provide the best support to move them forward from the most important starting point for learning: what they are doing well right now. Another miscue analysis procedure, Over the Shoulder (OTS) miscue analysis (Davenport, 2002), also allows teachers to nurture readers.
