ABSTRACT
One of the most exciting aspects of the recent scholarship on the Cold War has been the examination of Chinese Communist foreign policy. As a result of these studies we have a much better appreciation of how the Cold War engulfed Asia as well as Europe. Of immense value in the writing of postwar international history has been the outpouring of Chinese memoir material and the selective dissemination of key documents by Communist authorities in Beijing.
