ABSTRACT
The root of the word ‘definition’ is the Latin ‘definire’, which means ‘set limits to’. This chapter seeks to do that with the communication disorder called cluttering from a ‘lowest common denominator’ perspective. In mathematics, the lowest common denominator (LCD) is the smallest number that can be divided into the denominators of two or more fractions that are to be added or subtracted. One of its figurative meanings is the broadest and most widely applicable requirements for a given problem or issue. Another way to consider an LCD definition is to determine the minimum number of necessary and sufficient conditions in order that the problem or issue is de-limited or defined.
