Introduction

This book is about broadening horizons. It is written and published at the beginning of a new millennium. With the start of a new century and the third millennium there is a sense that nothing changes and that everything does. Nothing changes in that we do not become a different world and different people. Yet, everything is looked at anew and with a fresh perspective. We reflect on the past and lessons learnt from experience. We look to the future and its threats and opportunities.
