ABSTRACT
The arguments of our books struck a chord and so it seemed an appropriate development for us to write something jointly. In Contract and Domination (2007) we explore our differences-Pateman argues that contract theory is best abandoned, while Mills believes that it has emancipatory potential if suitably modifi ed-and we take our arguments further and bring the sexual and racial contracts together.
