The theory of internal colonialism: the South African case

The view that there are close parallels between the external relationships established by colonial powers over colonized peoples and the relationship of ethnic, cultural, national, or racial groups within some Latin American societies, the United States, and South Africa, has led to the use of the notion of ‘internal colonialism’ in the analysis of these societies. ¹
