Are Citizens Becoming Sources? A Look into the Professional Contacts of Flemish Journalists

The ordinary citizen fi nds no direct forum in this system. The citizen could join one of the above-mentioned interest groups (see also Carpentier, 2008), or participate in opinion polls (elections being the ultimate example). Direct communication between citizens is only possible in the discursive spaces of the public sphere (Haas, 2007, pp. 41-42).
