ABSTRACT

“Just start,” Dr. Webb said. “Once the words start appearing on the page it gets easier,” he said. Ha! OK, here goes… When we are immersed in a good book we have a sense, a mental image, of the spaces and characters that exist in the story. The author’s text fires our imagination to build such spaces for us. When we really “get into” a book, the plain text on the page can inspire a more powerful “virtual reality” than any computer graphics system yet invented.
