Through a process of sound change, this suffix has developed in Ga in such a way that there is n()w a second plural suffix, that alternates with the final syllable of the singular and appears in a limited number of words, for example:

Ga: niine 'leg' niijii 'legs'

In Ga also, the plural of many nouns referring to classes of persons includes a plural stem formative -me-:

Ga: nyemi 'brother' nyemimei 'brothers'.
