ABSTRACT
The need for new orientation in rural development International development and aid efforts have been very successful in many cases. Nevertheless, disparities between rich and poor countries and hunger in the Third World are still increasing. Population growth in developing countries appears to neutralize progress. Today’s global food production could supply the present world population, but structural preconditions for equitable distribution have not yet been fulfilled, and there is general consensus that food aid cannot be a solution to this problem.
