ABSTRACT
As we saw in chapter 3, context can support the ethical academy. One of the more important and potentially more signicant inuences on the ethical academy is the network of external stakeholders represented by a range of actors primarily including government, accreditation agencies, foundations, and a variety of non-accrediting professional associations. e network is important, and oen vital, because of the variety of oversight responsibilities exercised across it (Lane 2007), but also because the network can facilitate diusion of best practices and infusion of values to individual units in higher education.
