ABSTRACT
Few words are more persuasive than ‘woman-centred’ care and ‘midwiferyled’ care to describe what should comprise the best of support for women in labour and birth. They are often used alongside the notion of ‘choice in child - birth’ and many of us believe that we can define the principal characteristics of all three terms.
