ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the state of clinical supervision science in various parts of Europe based on an extensive literature review. The authors draw the reader’s attention to the research evidence regarding concept, theories and models applied in clinical supervision. They also synthesise the literature regarding: the different styles used by supervisors; ethical issues; and effects of clinical supervision. At the end the authors provide the contextual description of clinical supervision. This extensive work was accomplished by utilising a systematic approach inspired by Burns and Grove (2001).
