ABSTRACT

Honour crimes are reported to take place in many countries, permeating all religions and all social classes. This chapter will provide a commentary on the problem of HRV in those societies with the most recent activism against the rising trend of the phenomenon, including over a decade’s work by governments and activists in Europe attempting to minimise the number of HRV crimes, amending laws on punishments for perpetrators of such crimes and offering professional help to ‘migrant’ communities, where the vast majority of these crimes take place.
