ABSTRACT
The system focuses thin rays of radiation through healthy tissue that converge on the tumor like spokes meeting at the center of a wheel. Solving puzzles occasionally results in marvelous inventions. More important than the definitions, however, is recognition that both pictures and diagrams vary in detail and the amount of required detail depends on our goal. This chapter discusses the developmental sequence from children to undergraduates to experts. The effectiveness of semantic networks as instructional tools has been extensively investigated at Texas Christian University. The tests typically require a good organization or the major topics, and constructing semantic networks helps people organize knowledge. The compatible strengths of pictures for depicting particular cases and of semantic networks for organizing hundreds of cases can be combined in SemNet to link perceptual information with concepts organized in a semantic network.
