Assessing intermodal re- balance and integration in urban transportation planning: an illustration on the basis of a sub- lagoon tube plan for Venice

Another interesting analysis that was carried out concerns the Greater Toronto Area (Kennedy, 2002) and calls for a new transportation system organization in which a mixture of modes have to be managed at once. Also, in other studies (see Musso et al., 2008), the steps followed in the Italian cities of Rome and Napoli to improve the cities’ environmental conditions and liveability, and the role played by the integration of all transportation modes of the city are described.
