ABSTRACT

After exploring wilderness areas around the world and producing more than 115 films about the planet and its creatures, Jacques-Yves Cousteau called population growth “the primary source of environmental damage.” For millennia the world population was nearly constant. Over the past century growth has became exponential, doubling every 30 to 40 years. Some of today’s elderly have watched the world population quadruple.
