ABSTRACT

Families have a substantial influence on child development. Theory and research findings support the important role parents have in their children’s education. Systems theory describes ecological systems that play pivotal roles in child development. Engaging families and educators in two key systems of child development, home and school, create essential connections in the mesosystem to enhance child development and promote positive outcomes. Key school conditions, such as relationship building, support adopting and implementing a tiered systems of family–school partnership support that extends across home, school, and community settings.
