Lying and Deceit,

If anthropologists meet to discuss immigrant communities or famine relief they obviously have a justified sense of relevance to the problems of the day. If they meet to talk about religious symbolism they may equally well be talking about remote places or about religious matters near home. Such are the times we live in that a conference on ‘Lying and Deceit’ seems unquestionably topical, relevant and important.
