ABSTRACT

Irish aid in 1995 totalled almost IR£89 million, up from IR£75.2 million in 1994, and as a percentage of GNP its share increased from 0.24% in 1994 to 0.27% in 1995. While the Government has allocated significant absolute increases in ODA since 1993, the movement towards the interim target of 0.4% of GNP by 1997 is behind schedule. The slowing of the rate of increase in terms of share of GNP is expected to continue into 1996 where the estimated outturn is 0.29% GNP or IR£106 million, against the strategy plan target of 0.35% of GNR
