Implementing partnership with parents in schools

BySally Beveridge

As a parent, you’ve got to get involved ... You may feel intimidated but you must put your own self to one side, not be intimidated, and say ‘this is what I feel, I think, I wish for my child’, and be ready to say ‘you’re making assump tions - look, you’re wrong’. Sometimes teachers are so harassed and pressurised and stressed that to say they’ve got to reach out to parents may be too much. But as a parent you do feel the barriers are there, you feel pressurised to justify yourself a lot - there needs to be a way to bring the barriers down.
