ABSTRACT

66A successful participation programme provides a logical sequence of activities and events to lead participants, together, from identifying and understanding a problem to solving it. It relies on careful planning and hard work, and draws upon the wisdom, insights and creativity of all participants.

While the previous chapter focused on the organizational framework and initial activities needed to get a project off the ground, this chapter focuses on the actual design of a participatory process. It provides an approach for thinking about which methods to use and how to sequence them. The methods themselves are described in detail in Chapter 6, Participation Toolkit.
