Battery issues

WithDavid J. Spiers

The output of a PV array depends on the availability of sunlight. Such a variable output is suitable only for a few applications, such as water pumping or in grid-connected systems. In most cases loads require that electricity is available on demand. This is especially significant in cold climates, where sunlight can be minimal for long periods of time. Consequently, PV systems used in remote cold locations use storage devices, the most common being batteries.
