With the appearance in 1998 of Edward Phillips's Gabriel Faure: A Guide to Research (New York: Garland, 1998) Faure finally joins the ranks of composers for whom a comprehensive bibliographical survey has been published. In addition to Phillips's work, extensive bibliographies are to be found in the appendices of the two standard Faure studies, lean-Michel Nectoux's Gabriel Faure, A Musical Life and Robert Orledge's Gabriel Faure. The works listed below include the principal primary and secondary sources cited in this volume.
