ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights the attributes of Positive Organizational Relationships' (POR)-related resources. It develops implications for future research exploring the dynamics of PORs and its resource exchanges as well as its limiting, boundary conditions. PORs efficiently deploy available resources by more effectively timing and targeting the resources partners exchange. Critically, PORs entail the production of new resources of a particularly scarce and valued nature via interactions that give exchanges special significance. PORs-based resources are the source of hope, opportunity, and possibility in organizations because they provide a means for building a future even from a stressful and turbulent present. PORs resurrect and revitalize one page of organizational scholarship's ancient history and unite it with the movement toward positive psychology. Positive psychology focuses attention on resilience and thriving, the capacity to respond to change or high demands with strength, energy, and enhanced self-confidence.
