ABSTRACT
This article reviews expert evidence of voice identification. It contrasts the preference expressed for acoustic analysis of voice samples by the Court of Appeal for Northern Ireland in O’Doherty with the qualified approval given to auditory analysis by the English Court of Appeal in Robb. It is argued that the former technique, although not unproblematic, is clearly superior.
