ABSTRACT

Starting in 2011, the enterprise was greatly enriched by the arrival of a group of colleagues in the Departments of Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Architecture at the University of Padua, which includes their laboratories for Drawing and Representation and Information Modeling. After 6 years of collaboration and experimentation, people now look back to assess whether their enterprise has been a success. Visualizing Venice can be seen as a cutting-edge collaboration using technology to visualize cities and urban spaces. It has been both immensely stimulating and challenging. Visualizing Venice has also become a platform for experimenting with the potential of visualization technology. Above all, Visualizing Venice had led to new discoveries and a new type of conceptual approach to the study of monuments and urban spaces. Although the visibility of the projects is certainly a great thing, underneath and behind that visibility is the drumbeat of constant hard work by a group of collaborators whose efforts are not so visible.
