ABSTRACT

This research aims to reveal the effect of science fair integrated with project-based learning on students’ creativity and communication skills. This research used quasi-experimental design with pre-test-post-test non-equivalent control group design. The population in this research were all grade eight students of a private junior high school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia (namely SMP 3 Muhammadiyah). Samples of this research were class VIII F students as experimental group and class VIII E students as control group. Experimental group implemented science fair integrated with project-based learning, while control group implemented conventional learning. Samples were selected by means of cluster sampling technique. The data was collected through test and non-test. Data of creativities skill was collected by using test and the data communication skills were collected by using observation sheet. The data was analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance (manova). The results indicated that science fair integrated with project-based learning has significant effect on creativity and communication skills based on manova with sig. 0.000 < 0.05.
