ABSTRACT

Non-linear deformation behaviours of granular materials are controlled by grain properties and microstructure formed. Primary property of granular media consists of grain shape, grain size distribution, stiffness and resistant friction angle between grains. Microstructures are formed such as the connection paths of contact points between grains. In this paper, the deformation of granular material with different grain properties under different stress-levels and densities, were simulated by DEM in two-dimensional. On the basis of analysis results, we investigated changes of fabric. We reveal the evolution rule of stress-induced anisotropy and its limitation and the existence of critical state of fabric stability corresponding to macro behaviour.
