ABSTRACT

By using the soil static and dynamic universal triaxial and torsional shear apparatus, a series of cyclic triaxial shear tests are performed for saturated loose sands under both isotropic and anisotropic consolidation as well as K 0-consolidation condition in this paper. The effect of different consolidation conditions on cyclic shear behaviour of granular soils is examined and emphasis are put on empirical pattern of development of pore-water pressure of sands generated during undrained shearing under K 0-consolidation condition.
