ABSTRACT

The traditional story of creation, fall and redemption is offensive. The doctrine of the resurrection is unintelligible. Moreover, Heather Eaton makes it clear that her view is not that these traditional Christian views are strictly false but nevertheless useful metaphors. Nick Trakakis holds that a solution of sorts is provided in Christianity and Buddhism in terms of the postulation of an afterlife. Michael Rea speaks of "the way in which the meaning of the terms 'Christianity' and 'Christian faith' are fixed". There is very little agreement among Christians about the Bible's veracity. Some are dedicated to peace and nonviolence, while others, in parts of the United States, for example, encourage all good God-lovin' Christians to carry guns. Throughout his response Hart makes multiple references to God and the Trinity, at one point saying that the term 'person' is inadequate, while elsewhere referring to the Trinity as three 'persons'.
