The fundamentals of statistical data analysis
This chapter explains some of the essential aspects of parameter estimation and hypothesis testing, without abandoning the statistical analysis of data. A brief description of the interplay between estimation and testing, and its corresponding practical implication, are also given. Throughout, it is assumed that a well-defined question already exists, and that appropriate levels of planning and diligence have been given to the design and execution of each experiment or study. Therefore, the only thing left to discuss is the statistical data analysis itself.
