ABSTRACT

Global warming and the environmental problem are nowadays topics of great concern throughout the world. This chapter discusses the global warming problem and introduces a proposal for directly cooling the earth. Various effects of the global environmental problem have become apparent, such as changes in aquatic environments and climate. If afforestation proceeded and the deserts disappeared, the earth would look very different, and the forms of life that live in the unique desert environment would become extinct. The global environmental problem stems from the fact that human beings need a certain environment in order to sustain their lives, but it is the very actions of human beings themselves that is destroying this environment. The chapter considers environmental problems which used to be localized ones but which then developed into global problems; examples include acid rain, and some forms of marine pollution.
