ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an outline structure to write-up mixed methods research, before discussing each of the constituent parts in detail. It presents example sections of writing about mixed methods research which model good practice to illustrate what the write-up should look like. Students are often anxious about the abstract and introduction to their research reports, typically because they have not had to write anything like this before. The literature review is a significant part of the write-up because it is the opening chance to showcase the knowledge about the topic someone is researching. Communicating ethical practice is worthwhile including three elements in all ethics sections of a written report, namely: details of the ethical approval, the actions someone have taken to ensure the research upholds ethical principles, and acknowledgement of a code/statement of ethics from a professional body.
